Dr. Alex Lin spent his childhood years between Taiwan and SoCal before obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. After he was saturated with all the coffee, seafood, and hiking in the PNW, he then made a cross country move to Boston, MA where he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. Coming from a non-athletic background, he ran his first 5k after being peer-pressured from classmates and hasn’t stopped running since then. He developed his passion for helping others cross the finish line for the first time and their pursuit for future running goals. After moving to Austin in 2021, he discovered his niche in the older adult population and became board certified as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist in 2024. His goal is to continue pushing older adults to stay active for as long as possible. Outside of clinical practice, you can find Dr. Lin trying to keep up with his wife when training for races ranging between 5Ks and marathons. When he isn’t running, you can find him in the kitchen trying to recreate cuisines found throughout their travels around the world.

Throughout his life, the biggest constant in Dr Bierschenk’s (pronounced BEER-SHANK) life has been sports. Growing up on the mean streets of Nacogdoches, TX, it was commonplace to find him practicing soccer, or recreationally running, cycling, disc golfing, or playing basketball in his driveway. Upon graduating, he moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, where he majored in Sociology. Almost immediately after stepping onto the 40 acres, he was swept into the world of ultimate frisbee. What followed next was a 17 year (and counting) career that included being a member of a national championship winning team in 2012 with Austin Doublewide and a three year stint as a member of the Austin Sol, a professional team associated with the American Ultimate Disc League. He also volunteered his time for 8 years as a coach of the men’s ultimate frisbee team at UT and worked as a coach and counselor at various ultimate frisbee summer camps.

It was through Ultimate Frisbee that Dr. Bierschenk met Dr. Halasz as he was introduced into the field of Physical Therapy for the first time in 2012 before attending Texas State University for Physical Therapy in 2014. After 15 years of living in the hill country he moved to Fort Worth in 2020 for a brief stint before being beckoned home by the opportunity to join the team at RunLab 15 short months later. While he still finds a great deal of identity and release through sports, his main passion now revolves around family life with his wife, 1yo daughter, and two dogs; always looking for new adventures and new horizons.
